Pick a main drive and a backup drive, folders by day and camera, and leave it listening.
Two readers copy at the same time, every file checked against the card. Then the cards eject themselves.
While you are back out shooting, the second drive gets its copy, verified file by file.
Clips after midnight go into the evening's folder, not a new day. The editor opens one folder per wedding day.
Shots already in the project are skipped, so a card you plug in twice copies only what is new. No “-1” files.
Each file is checked while it copies and gets its final name only once the copy matches the card. Always on, no switch to turn it off.
When every file has a verified copy, mark the card for formatting and the camera offers to format it. Nothing is deleted, and it can be undone.
Footage is sorted by date and camera on its own, from a path template you set once.
The free plan is not a trial: every feature is unlocked, backups and parallel cards included.

Choose LifetimeYes, if they are in different readers. When a second card shows up while the first is still copying, ShotGrab opens a parallel lane that imports into the same project at the same time instead of making it wait. Both cards use the same destination and the same folder rules.
When every file on it has a verified copy in your archive. ShotGrab can then mark the card for formatting: it never deletes anything, it flips the first 2 MiB so the camera offers to format it, and you can undo that until the camera does. It checks again at the moment you confirm, and if your copy is on only one drive it says so and recommends the second backup, without blocking you. It needs your admin password or Touch ID.
ShotGrab copies to the primary drive first and verifies it, ejects the card, and only then copies drive to drive to each backup destination, verified against the file already on the primary. The card is free as soon as the fast drive is done, and a slow backup drive never holds up the others.
A clip between 00:00 and 05:00 can stay with the previous evening if the gap since the previous clip is short enough. The allowed gap shrinks smoothly from 3 hours at midnight to zero at 05:00, so there is no hard cut at 4 am. By default ShotGrab asks you the first time it would merge something, and the copy does not wait more than a minute for the answer. Only the date folders change; the clip's real hour stays in its metadata.
ShotGrab is built around cards and drives. Files from an iPhone are best handled with Image Capture into a folder next to the camera folders, as described in our iPhone B-roll guide.
